Above is an example of how we are using our word study to create a "word wall" for the upper grade spectrum. Picture clues are added for each word. Methods for teaching-We review a weekly powerpoint together; we create movement to remember each stem (ex-arms crossed in an "X" for anti); we individually select 2 examples from each stem to focus on for remembering and applying in our writing; students create a photo and stem words used in a sentence once a week (2 for each stem-10 total). We test on Friday. |
